A series of psychological portraits of well-known women from the 19th and 20th centuries, through which I aim to demonstrate the strength that comes from self-confidence and staying true to one’s intuition. The women I depict have each made a powerful statement in their own way. They followed their inner voice and, often despite social expectations or judgments, discrimination, poverty, or other obstacles, made a lasting impact in their field. They helped shape the world and inspired others with their courage and enthusiasm. With my paintings, I want to capture their enthusiasm and pass on their strength.
